What is a Turkish towel?

The origins of the Turkish towel date back to the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish hammam bathing culture - that’s over 600 years ago! Unlike the typical heavy looped terry towels we lug around beaches, or hang in our bathrooms, the Turkish towel (orpeshtemal in Turkish) is created with a flat weave, without any loops.
